Harold "Harry" Oliver, Born Oct. 26, 1898, At Selkirk, Mb, Where He Started His Hockey Career On The Ponds There. Then He Went On To Attain Greatness With The Boston Bruins And New York Americans In A Nationa L Hockey League Career That Spanned 11 Years. Although He Weighed Only 155 Lbs He Moved With Speed And Grace And Was Called "Smooth As Silk". His Appearance And Deportment Were Exemplary On And Off The Ice. In His Entire Career He Never Spent More Than 24 Minutes In The Penalty Box During A Season. He Played With The Selkirk Juniors In 1917 And 1918, Moving Up To Selkirk Seniors, Who Went On Tothe Western Canadian Championship. He Moved To Calgary In 1920 To Play In The Western League Until 1926 When He Was Sold To Boston Bruins. He Played On A Stanley Cup Winner In 1928-1929, And Was Traded To Americans In 1934, And Remained 3 More Years. During His Pro Career Oliver Scored 218 Goals And Had 144 Assists - 91 And 49 With Calgary Tigers Of Whl, 127 And 95 In The Nhl |
